Clivequote.gifDr Dror’s work is based on the premise that anyone involved in designing training or learning will be able to do their job better if they are guided and constrained by an understanding of the underlying cognitive mechanisms involved in learning. As a brilliant and engaging presenter and workshop leader, he has made a name for himself helping training and learning professionals grasp how the human cognitive system works, and how human knowledge is acquired, represented, stored, used and retrieved. His workshops are dynamic, fun, highly practical – and exhausting!

In this one day version of his highly successful workshop, which has been run for organisations as diverse as PricewaterhouseCoopers, B&Q and the CIPD, Dr Dror will cover three broad areas:

The general principles and mechanisms of human cognition, including:

  • The human brain and how we process information.
  • How information processing underlies all aspects of training and learning.
  • Aspects of information processing, such as how knowledge is encoded and retrieved mental representations, and how the brain’s resources are allocated.
  • Constraints in cognition, including limits in information processing load, malfunctions and lack of control.

How these general principles affect how we think, in relevant areas such as:

  • Problem solving
  • Memory
  • Acquiring skills
  • Making decisions
  • Creativity (cognitive flexibility)
  • Mental imagery
  • Developing expertise
  • Visual cognition

Implications for the design of training and learning.

This is the core of the workshop. Participants will be provided with a wide range of specific methods to make the training and learning that they develop more effective. By the end of the day participants will have a number of in-depth tools that will enhance and enrich their ability to design highly effective training and learning. The workshop is designed to change the way that participants approach their work.

The workshop is appropriate for anyone responsible for commissioning, designing or evaluating training and learning in organisations. Although there will be some emphasis on blended learning and e-learning, it will cover a wide range of learning methods and media. In order to make sure that the workshop meets the needs of all participants, Dr Dror will contact each individual to understand their requirements and assess how the workshop may be adapted.

Cost for the workshop, including supporting literature and initial consultation is
£395 + VAT.
